Leicester City chairman clears almost £200m from club debts

Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has relieved the club of nearly £200million of outstanding debts.

The Premier League club, which is owned by King Power International, had over £194m in loans and interest that they were due to pay back to Srivaddhanaprabha s company.

However, the Thai businessman, the son of former Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium in 2018, has chosen to relieve these debts.

In a statement on Leicester s official website, the chairman said: Maintaining long-term stability is vital for sustainable growth and a fundamental principle that has always guided our investments in the club s future.

We want to make sure we continue on that path from the stro…

After coming so close in recent seasons, PSG will hope this move can bring an end to their wait for a first Champions League triumph.

Mbappe sets another PSG record – but does it alter his legacy?

Kylian Mbappe took sole ownership of another piece of Paris Saint-Germain history on Saturday when he scored against Lens.

Mbappe s goal was his 139th for the club in Ligue 1, moving beyond former team-mate Edinson Cavani for a PSG record.

As with the all-competitions record, which was Cavani s until Mbappe passed him at the start of last month, it is an honour that has changed hands with some regularity in recent seasons.

Before Zlatan Ibrahimovic, nobody had scored 100 top-flight goals for PSG, with Mustapha Dahleb s tally of 85 the benchmark prior to the QSI era.

But Ibrahimovic overtook Dahleb and was then himself overtaken by Cavani. Now, Mbappe is the history man, and it appears highly unlikely that will change any time soon.

It´s not normal! Poyet bemused by timing of Ziyech deal after Chelsea sign nobody in January

Gustavo Poyet thinks it was bizarre for Chelsea to make no January signings and then announce a deal for Hakim Ziyech days later.

Frank Lampard s side confirmed in February that Ajax star Ziyech would be moving to Stamford Bridge after the 2019-20 season for a fee that could reach €44million.

While Poyet believes the Morocco star could prove an exciting addition to the Premier League, the former Chelsea midfielder could not understand why the move was announced so soon after the club failed to make any signings during the transfer window.

A transfer embargo prevented Chelsea from bringing in fresh faces before the start of the season but, despite Lampard stressing the need for reinforcements, no new players were signed once the ban was lifted at the start of J…

Caoimhin Kelleher praised for ‘exceptional’ display in Liverpool’s latest win

Jurgen Klopp emphasised Caoimhin Kelleher’s importance to Liverpool’s trophy hunt in the ongoing absence of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson.

The Republic of Ireland international impressed in Saturday’s 4-1 win at Brentford that ensured the Reds stayed top of the Premier League.

It was his second conservative start, with Alisson having missed the last two games – first with illness and then a muscle injury.
